Is Captain Marvel The Strongest Avenger? What is this about?

Is Captain Marvel The Strongest Avenger? In cinemas this past weekend, audiences got their first look at the one and only Captain Marvel—the tour-de-force, most well-rounded super-powered hero in the Marvel Universe.

Compared to the Avengers, the balanced power set and all-around strength of Carol Danvers makes her one of the mightiest of the mighty. Her secret? Some heroes max out on just one talent, being the fastest or strongest or most durable.

Hulk has more durability than any other Avenger on the block. Doctor Strange’s energy manipulation is second-to-none. Captain America has forgotten more about tactics and strategy than anyone else in the mansion has ever even known. Iron Man, despite his many flaws, is a smart cookie. Few people have raced or tried to out-bench Thor and lived to tell the tale. Hawkeye? Hawkeye’s got his thing, don’t be rude.

But what makes Captain Marvel so captivating is that she’s all-around strong. She can endure a nuke and duke that energy out in turn; she’s served at every level of the military from trainee to commander of the combined Earth defenses; she’s quicker than the speed of sound, sharp as a tack, and can lift a hundred tons.

Is Captain Marvel The Strongest Avenger?

Captain Marvel’s upcoming new series confirms that she is the strongest Avenger. This October, Carol Danvers returns in a brand-new ongoing series, with a brand-new outfit based on Captain Marvel’s wildly popular Hellfire Gala outfit. With this bold new era comes new friends and foes, including a cosmic being who sees Captain Marvel as the universe’s most powerful heroic force.

Marvel shared a first look at October’s Captain Marvel #1. The new book will be written by Alyssa Wong and drawn by Jan Bazaldua. In addition, superstar artist Jen Bartel has provided a sleek new outfit for Captain Marvel, one based on Bartel’s Hellfire Gala look. Wong and Bazaldua are hitting the ground running, putting Captain Marvel through the wringer when she meets what Marvel’s press release calls an “overwhelming omniversal entity.”

This unnamed entity sees Captain Marvel as the sole obstacle between it and its “vision of total annihilation.” It now falls on Captain Marvel to find a way to stop the entity and save the universe. Marvel’s press release reveals that Carol will make new friends along the way, some that can be trusted – and others that cannot.

Captain Marvel Is the Only Threat to an Omniversal Being

In the Marvel Universe, there are many levels of power – and an omniversal being beats pretty much all of them. This implies that Carol’s new rival exists across every reality – and if she’s its only threat, then her power level is truly off the scale.

It makes sense that this reveal comes now – Carol has just been through a time of trial and loss, even losing her new ‘sister,’ the energy being Binary. However, she’s emerged more determined than ever to fight the good fight, and was recently elected to lead the Avengers by Earth’s heroes. Now, she has another vote of confidence – albeit one that means she must be destroyed.

Captain Marvel’s Final Form Has Found a Worthy Challenge

Captain Marvel has had an incredible character arc, rising from obscurity to become the chair of the Avengers. Making Captain Marvel a hero on the omniversal level is a huge step, but one that makes sense with her powers. Captain Marvel can absorb and channel vast amounts of energy, and even takes on new forms to contain it. Recently, Carol ascended to her final form – a glowing transformation fans originally saw in Captain Marvel: The End. Given that Captain Marvel’s prior forms were among Marvel’s most powerful beings, it makes sense that her upgrade comes with this shocking step up.

Captain Marvel’s motto is “higher, further, faster,” and her new place in the Marvel Universe is certainly living up to that promise, as a wildly powerful new being singles her out as the only Avenger who can stop it.

Marvel Revealed Captain Marvel May Be Even More Powerful Than We Thought

Ever since her introduction in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Carol Danvers, better known as Captain Marvel, has been portrayed as not only one of the strongest Avengers, but one of the strongest cosmic characters period. This was especially driven home during Avengers: Endgame when Carol took on Thanos by herself, and was actually able to hold her own to the point that Thanos needed to use the Power Stone to take her out of the fight.

The latest lighthearted episode of What If…? only further demonstrates Captain Marvel’s power, as she gets into a one on one fight with Thor that spans across several continents. While Thor gives a good showing and initially seems to have won their confrontation, Carol later reveals that she was holding back. Unleashing her full power against Thor would have caused unnecessary fatalities, something she didn’t want to do when she was dealing with someone she saw as a frat boy.

Later, Carol fights Thor again, and while it’s unclear just how much stronger she is compared to Thor (whose only response to Carol throwing him into Siberia from orbit was “I actually felt that one”), it’s clear that, at that point, she had no plans to hold back any further.

To make matters even more impressive, at the same time, SHIELD is also planning to nuke Thor, even with Captain Marvel in the blast zone. When Coulson brings up this fact, Acting Director Maria Hill dismissively says that Carol would be fine, indicating that a nuclear blast is something Captain Marvel could just shrug off.

We don’t see Thor or Captain Marvel going all out because the fight gets interrupted by Frigga, and as such, we aren’t privy to what would happen if Captain Marvel and Thor got hit by a nuke.

The implication that Carol at least, and likely Thor as well, would come out of it completely intact, however, says a lot about just how powerful Captain Marvel is. Earlier dialogue and scenes also show Carol can dish out as good as she can take, with Hill comparing her punches to ten nuclear bombs and Carol herself concerned that she could end up cracking the Earth if she cuts loose too much.
