Though “fewer than half of the series’ 18 episodes” were shot by late September, that was all Kevin Feige and other members of Marvel’s top brass needed to see of the more straightforward legal procedural before choosing to pump the brakes and going back to square one by beginning the search for a new creative team.

Ord and Corman will still be listed as executive producers on the show, which will feature “some scenes and episodes” the pair wrote. But in addition to releasing all of the directors who were previously attached to helm unshot episodes from this specific episodic project, Marvel is also reportedly planning to overhaul its entire approach to producing serialized television. Though it isn’t clear whether it will take this approach with Daredevil: Born Again, The Hollywood Reporter describes Marvel as being very keen on hiring showrunners — not just head writers paired with studio executives — to guide its series “from start to finish.”

When and Where Is ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Coming Out?

The new show is currently still in the works, but all of the details haven’t been released yet. As of right now, we know the series will be exclusively streaming on Disney+, as with all the newer Marvel content. Daredevil: Born Again was originally slated for a Spring 2024 release date, but has now been delayed indefinitely due to the ongoing strikes. If you are in dire need of some Daredevil action, however, Episode 8 of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, “Ribbit and Rip it”, has the return of Matt Murdock.

Who’s Making ‘Daredevil: Born Again’?

Daredevil: Born Again is currently set to be written by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, both veterans of the 2010 series Covert Affairs. This will be their first Marvel Cinematic Universe project. Those two will also be the executive producers for the entire project. The series has reportedly also added Arrowverse writers Jill Blankenship and Grainne Godfree to the writers’ room, both of whom have worked extensively on DC shows. Michael Cuesta, who has previously directed for Homeland and Dexter, has been announced as the director for the pilot episode.

Who’s In the Confirmed Cast of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’?

The confirmed cast for Daredevil: Born Again has been steadily building up. Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio were the first to be confirmed for the series. It has also been announced that Michael Gandolfini (The Many Saints of Newark) has been cast in an undisclosed role. The only thing Gandolfino has revealed about his character is that he’s from Staten Island, which doesn’t exactly narrow things down.

Other confirmed cast members include Margarita Levieva, Sandrine Holt, and Nikki M. James. Holt will reportedly be playing Vanessa Fisk, the Kingpin’s wife, taking over from Ayelet Zurer, who played the character in Netflix’s Daredevil. In March 2023, it was revealed that Arty Froushan (Carnival Row) has been cast in the series, playing a character called Harry. We don’t know much about the character yet, but he has been described as one of the main characters, so he’s definitely someone to look out for in the show.

Perhaps the most exciting piece of casting news for Daredevil: Born Again has got to be the return of Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher. Bernthal’s version of the character was introduced in Daredevil Season 2, going on to get his own series.
